Twelve monkeys, eleven hats. One monkey is sad.
Makes sense, it's not a bad cover but its ridiculously out of character for the Batgirl comic which is rather cheery. Really impressed with how the artist handled it rather than taking it as a personal affront.
Ask not the EldarGal a question, for she will give you three answers, all of which are puns and terrifying to know. Back off man, I'm a feminist. Ia! Ia! Gloppal Snode!
Marvel finally realising that targeting young women readers by getting their stuff into bookstores might be a sensible idea.Via Teen Vogue, Marvel has just announced A-Force Anthology, “a series that focuses on the strength, courage, and power of Marvel’s female characters.” The announcement mentions that “Ms. Marvel, Thor, Black Widow, She-Hulk, and more” will be included in the anthology.
It seems like each collection will feature six titles from Marvel’s recent strong slate of female-led titles. The previews make it clear that these aren’t new stories: the pages are from She-Hulk #1, Thor #1 and Ms. Marvel #1. So if you can’t pick this up but subscribe to all these books (like I do, natch) you won’t be missing anything. What this collection is looking to do, it seems, is group jumping on points for all these ladyhero books in one place.
A-Force Anthology will be “hitting the YA section of your local bookstore,” meaning that it’s geared to an audience outside specialist comic book stores. I think this is great, since only people who read comics go to comic book stores. They’re a bad place to reach new readers, and can be unfriendly spaces for young women. With this and the upcoming Black Widow novel by Margaret Stohl, it looks like you’ll be able to find a lot of the Marvel women on YA bookshelves.

...I think it's more Disney influence.
Strange thought. I could see She-Hulk dressing up like a Disney Princess, but could you see Widow doing that (when it's NOT an assignment) or Danvers?
Emma Frost would have to have her dress dialed back, though.
I don't know enough about Spider-Woman, though.
If, like me, you remember 'Female Thor is just political correct rubbish and no-one wants to read anything where the character changes so fundamentally and why do we need to increase diversity anyway, and we should never change anything just for the sake of it and who would buy these comics with girls in anyway? Boys? Boys don't want to read comics with girls in, and they're the only people who read comics! Exactly like wargaming: it's a boys' thing! Girls will never like it! blah blah blah...'
Then you too might enjoy the 'I told you so' that female Thor currently outsells male Thor by an utterly absurd amount.
Apparently, just like in 'Field of Dreams', if you build it, they will come...

New Thor is the best, the writer keeps trolling anti-feminists its hilarious. Good story and art though.

people in comments threads trying to justify Thor sales being great have been hilarious
