    Default Ork taktiks vs New Tin 'Ead Dex

    I'm throwing my orks at the new necron list today vs. a very competent player.

    here roughly what i will be taking in my 2000 point list:

    3 battlewagons
    10 lootas
    3x 7 nobs (2 pk, 4 uge choppas in each)
    2x warbosses each in a squad of trukk boyz
    6 kanz

    hopefully i can get stuck in and mash them up into a fine, oily paste. i have absolutely no idea what i'm up against!

    i will update my post with my findings after the game.

    UPDATE 11/6/11:

    Instead of boring everyone with a text battle report, I will just list pros/cons for orks with closing thoughts.

    PROS:

    - Warbosses are the bane of Necron HQs. Make a beeline for their lords. Aim high, sirs. Aim high. Just incase it isn't totally obvious, that s10 power klaw will splateroo lords.
    - ws5 nobs with uge choppas really get the job done against pretty much the whole army. Their elite close combat "specialists" were often faced with 10-15 wounds a round from 4 uge choppas (before armor saves were taken).
    - massive amounts of cheap armor will overwhelm them, as they won't have enough weaponry to deal with the targets. 2 trukks, 6 kanz, 3 bw was more than they could handle.
    - the c'tan has been nerfed slightly and can now be wounded by our PKs on 3s (2s on the charge), and cannot inflict instant death on nobs
    - not to sound redundant, but my nob squads were the mvps of this game. i was able to deliver 2 mobs of them at full strength in their ranks and they just ran amok.
    - necron warriors are pretty useless now... 4+ armor save with a 5+ reanimation lols
    - all necron models are i2 except for some special characters, c'tan, and like one other unit. this means when we charge we go before wraiths, flayed ones, scarabs, lychguard, necron OVERLORDS (that one is quite important)

    CONS:

    - mindshackle scarabs just suck. due to our low LD, it just plain sucks.
    - this may sound like a bit of common sense, but necrons put out EXTREMELY high numbers of s4 and s5 shots medium-range. don't leave boyz or any infantry model out of a KFF or cover. they will evaporate into a fine mist of fungus and green arcs.
    - the doomsday ark is a motherf$^#er. I originally wanted to take snikrot with 15 commandos and just ruin his day by coming in behind him and tying up what little long range campers he had. however, I am still waiting on GW to ship it to me. -_- anyways, the nobs caught up to it and killed it. That s9 ap1 large template really hurts though. and i guarantee the necron player will not be moving it unless terrain is really packed.
    - the opposing player didn't take deathmarks, but i fear they may be a huge pain in the *** for ork players.
    - tesla weapons (like the one on the command barge) is a priority target for us. s7 heavy 4 with 6s granting additional hits eat up our light armor.
    - just forget about shooting at their vehicles. i had 10 lootas and killed 1 tank in 6 turns... s7 vs av13. not good. almost all necron vehicles are AV13 due to quantum jargon... we all know how hard av14 is to deal with. i fear that facing a very mech heavy necron army will be extremely difficult with orks.

    Other thoughts:

    Be sure to remember to give your Kanz armor plates. If it wasn't for them, the high amount of gauss weaponry zapping the grots inside would've left lots of kanz stunned.
    I didn't face a monolith, but I really wanted to. I really wanted to get 2d6 armor pen on it and send a pic back in time to myself. I usually take a mini horde to follow my trukks into combat, and they usually get stuck in, but i didn't field them in this game. I am really glad I didn't because of crap like tesla weapons, arcing, massive amounts of gauss shots, etc.

    Interesting lay out but it looks a little light on for points, even allowing for upgrades, I don't get close to 2000 with that list. Did you use characters? Also I think it is not legal, you have a possible two squadrons of kans, 3 in each equals 6 and 3 battle wagons which means you have taken 5 heavy choices, your max is 3.

    I am assuming that one or two of the nobs mobs are listed as a troops choice by virtue of the 2 waaagh bosses. Thus allowing you what would otherwise be 4 Elite choices, Lootas and 3 Nobs.

    To fit the waaagh boss on the trukk with the boys I assume you only took 11 boys, slugga choopa or shoota?

    What I did want to know is how the Waagh Boss survives the engagement in assualt to deliver the klaw of Mork to the Necron HQ? Even joining the trukk boys the Waagh Boss has to be in base contact with the bad guys as he is independant. The Nec's strike first, because of the Boss Klaw if nothing else, and can direct all attacks against the Boss from anyone in base contact, even to the point of ignoring anything else. If they are that scared then they will line up as many bods around the Boss as possible. The only way I ever overcame this issue was to load up a Nobs mob full of power klaws and burnas so that there was more than one scary threat. So how did it work for you?

    Weren't your kanz in squadrons, effectively granting them free armour plates (except the last one alive)?

    @Da Gargoyle:

    My list at the end always has the base ideas then deffkoptaz to fill in the points. So I think I ended up with a large squad with rokkit launchas that outflanked. I've played a few games since so please excuse my memory.

    Lol 2 squads of kanz and 1 BW as heavy support... the others were dedicated transports for the 2 nobs squads which are troops. The remaining nobs squad is elites along with the lootaz hope that clears that up.

    Yeah all my boyz on the trukkz were slugga/choppa... i take 1 with 10 for the mega armored warboss, and the other with 11 (both have a nob with PK)

    If I recall correctly my warboss got smacked in the face by the necron lord for like 3 wounds (which is way over what is probable) but I definitely remember saving 2 (which is way over what is probable). So I suffered 1 wound (2 more on the boyz) and proceeded to crush the lord and 2 lychguard just with the warboss (3 attacks allocated to the lord, one got through, and 3 attacks to the lychguard). My boyz with the warbosses are really just cushions for warboss delivery... I can charge with the warboss and "cushion" his base with boyz so he can pick out independent characters (when the opponent wraps his models there is not room to get in with the warboss). Ork players don't do that where you are? Anyways, the boyz finished off the squad of 7 lychguard. 2 Wounds inflicted by the PK nob and the remaining 3 died under a flood of saves.

    After that combat I remember the squad getting shot to hell, just the pk nob and warboss left... passed morale and they split up in the next turn. They went their separate ways and killed some stuff and died blah blah

    My mega armored warboss and squad ended up killing 1 squad of warriors, then a C'tan with the large blast template CC power (I can't believe I convinced the player to take it before the game haha). At the end the warboss had 2 wounds left and There were 3 boyz left and the PK nob... that combat lasted 3 turns

    @Houghten:

    Thank you for the tip. now I can waste the points on grot riggers! Technically the grot riggers are piloting it but you know, whatever

    @Jambo

    I'm glad to see my tips will be used by both races.

    grot riggers dont help as immobilised destroys in a squadron.
