For those of you who may know, and especially for those of you who do not, M.A.R. Barker is reported as having passed away. He was one of the original giants of roleplaying. Back in the 1970's he created Empire of the Petal Throne, which was the 2nd or 3rd roleplaying game TSR ever published. Gygax and Arneson created towns and dungeons, but I think its safe to say Phil was one of the first to create a full world.

Unfortunately, I'm too new to gaming to recognize the name. It is sad to hear of the death of an innovative mind though.
