Outnumbered

I have only played 3 games so far, but in each game my opponent has counted "outnumbered" when calculating combat resolution. I cannot find this in the rule book so could someone explain it to me please?

It sounds like your opponent is confusing things from last edition. Outnumbering no longer exists. It's been replace with the rules for Steadfast, which relies solely on ranks and not necsiarily # of models. Also Steadfast doesnt add to resolution..only to test that result from it.
