Default Sprayguns

Hi all,

A few years ago my missus very kindly bought me a Citadel Spray Gun (don't laugh, she was being very thoughtful!). I'd been using that to spray Bleached Bone onto my masses of Tyranids, and was spending a decent amount on cans of propellant.

I left it in the garden some time ago, and I'm not sure if it's rusted to the point of being unusable any more.

I have two questions:
• Can you recommend a better spray gun that works with a compressor, in case I need to buy a replacement?
• Can one use the Citadel Spray Gun with a compressor, in case it's still usable?

I use the GW gun on my compressor besides my airbrushes. If it still works, why not.
Not to repeat another full airbrush rant, here's the short version. Ditch the compressed air cans asap. Too expensive, no constant pressure, condensation during spray sessions, need to keep the can warm in a bucket of warm water in order to function only slightly less crappy.

Get yourself a compressor. It's a good investment that will last you many, many years, rather than having to buy cans all the time.
When buying a compressor, DO NOT buy one without a an air tank or moisture trap, no matter what the bargain. If you do, you WILL regret it later.

The GW gun; works fine as long as you take care of it, but any decent single-action airbrush of comparable price will probably be slightly better.

Here's one of the best starter packages out there I think. Ebay shops are your friend.

I agree with Meph on this. Though I do have to say...the coolest out there by far is the gw spray gun. Come on it looks like a flamer

yeah the GW one is pretty cool.

but these.. http://www.tcpglobal.com/airbrushdepot/ieclipse.aspx#IWA4331 are cooler.

you don't want that one at the top of the page, not that one.. not that one either. you want the ones with the triggers on them. fan pattern is a bonus but not necessary. a big cup or container is also needed since you'll be spraying a lot of paint for basecoating. bigger needles are better too, because it can deal with the varying pigment particle sizes in different paints better than a smaller needle can.

It doesn't have to be the iwata brand either (even though I own an iwata, love it and would recommend it to anyone). As long as you have the big cup and trigger, you're good to go.
