I know, eh. I lived in the UK last year while studying abroad, and got all sorts of funny looks when I apologised for being bumped into in the street, or on the Tube, or on the way to the train, or that time I almost got hit by a bus near Trafalgar Square*...

*Okay, I made the last one up, but I did almost get knocked into the canal by a cyclist in Nottingham. Needless to say, I apologised reflexively.
