    Default Stormtalon Conversion

The Stormtalon has been getting a little bit of a bad rep online for being fugly, but I think it is generally a good looking model and it was only a few small things that made it look awkward. The biggest eyesore is the truly inspiredly bad turret, the other is the oversized tail.

Here is my attemp to fix the turret. I left the tail as it is as I could not come up with something that would have looked better, maybe if I could get my hands on some of the left over bits from the ork fighter, I could come up with something. Maybe next time.

Still a bit of a WIP as I am currently working on a mini diorama to go on the base.

Generally pleased with how it turned out. Only thing that annoyed me was when I applied purity seal to it. Never used it on clear plastic before, so was pretty disappointed by how it misted up the canopy as I spent a lot of time adding details to the inside that can now hardly be seen.

The weapons pods are fully magnetized and could easily be changed to any of the weapons layouts or even flipped back to their standard position if desired.

I decided to build a new AssCan turret using two landspeeded Asscans, although I had to build a new mount as the speeder mount would have massively restricted how much the weapon could traverse. Besides, I think the stormtalon turret has much potential to act as a replacement turret for the stormraven, but that's another conversion.

Apart from the movable sensor turret, no other part of the original model needed to be changed in any way.

Not bad (great, in fact), using less cartoonishly large assault cannons does a lot for it. Like the color scheme too, kinda a police feel.

Very nice and simple looking conversion. any chance of a pic of the underneath of it, so we can see the alterations you've made to the turret and cheek pods better?

I actually like the tail as it is!
Either there is life in the universe more intelligent than us, or we are the most intelligent form of life in the universe. Either way, it's a worrying thought!

Seeing someone make the front landing ads make some sense really makes me want to pick up a Stormtalon now! Awesome work! Some underside shots would definitely be appreciated.
Corny faith and musty sorcery are no match for a good Gauss blaster.

Aye, the lighter guns and different landing feet do a lot for the design.
Now just make that tail longer and flip the tail the right side up. Muhahaha >:-)

Thanks for all the awesome feedback guys! Sorry about the slow reply, but it's been a busy day.

Here is a side shot I took out originally as the forum only allowed 4 pictures per post.

The pods were really easy, all you need to do is flip them upside down. No need for any further alternations beyond that.

I magnetized mine because I couldn't decide which way I liked them better (or even on at all). You can quite happily glue the inside half of the pods to the fuselage in the way you prefer and only need to magnetize the outer halves for weapons changes.

The new turret was really simply as well, I just took two landspeeder assault cannons and connected them with a 6mm thick piece of a solid plastic disposable pen that I sawed off, and is the same pen used to prop the assault cannons in the last pic.

I also sawed the ammo boxes down the central mold line to take about 1mm off from each as using them as they were meant the new turret did not sit well in the niche and could not traverse freely 360 degrees. Don't saw all the way through ammo boxes, only to where the existing cut-off is as that allows you to wrap the ammo boxes around the cannons for a better look.

Hopefully the pictures are pretty self explanatory.
