Imperial guard regiments

Does anyone know where I can find a more detailed list of Guard regiments than Lexicanum?

Also do any of you know any regiments that specialise in Sniping (other than the Tanith)?

The Athonian Tunnel Rats like sniping, they're quite sneaky.
They also have double-barrelled Lasguns.

I'm not sure where you would find a comprehensive list and their style.
Maybe IG dex they have some, but IIRC that is just colour schemes, similiarly with Imperial Armour books.
Does the Infantryman's Uplifting Primer carry any information regarding that?

Not sure if there's any fluff that specifies that the Athonians have a significant specialisation in sniping. The BRB 5th ed says they do urban combat -- which IRL includes a lot of sniping -- but Emperor only knows what urban combat means when you grow up on a hive world.

The Catachans specialise somewhat in sniping -- at least their codex had an awesome (idea at least) unit of (I think) 1-3 snipers who secret deployed separately!

The Tallarn also specialise to a certain extent in sniping. Well, they're desert fighters, and unlike urban combat, I don't think desert fighting can change that much over 38,000 years. Regarding a more complete list of regiments for the IG; what do you think is missing from Lexicanum? I know many of the regiments have no/very little info, but that's because for many regiments, GW has provided only a name.

If you want a more complete list, I'd suggest getting old editions of the BRB, IG Codex (and, hey, other codexes too!) the old summer campaign codexes and any of the BL fiction that focuses on the IG and making your own list. And when you're done, could you send me a copy, too?

There's not really any fluff for them at all, I'm just going via real world reference.

On that point, EVERY regiment should have snipers, EVERY armed forces regiment uses them.

All Guard Regiments would have snipers in. The only Regiments I know that specialise in sniping are raised on Ornsworld, and then deployed in detachments where their expertise are needed.

I mean of course, ratlings.

I was asking as I am currently in a play by post campaign online for "Only War" the new Guard rpg. As we're role playing guard our characters tend to die a lot. Currently I'm a Praetorian heavy bolter gunner, but I'd like my next character to be a sniper.

You can play as a ratling but our Gm doesn;t want any abhumans.

Most of the main regiments, such as the catachans and tallarns, have rules already. I was looking for an official GW regiment with a history of sniping. I couldn't really find any that suited on lexicanum.
