Default I revoke my previous blasphemous statements.....

OK...so some of you may have seen posts about me BLAH BLAH never pay for the 40k rulebook etc etc etc. However, after having the 20lb book in my hands and seeing the book for the first time, all I have to say is....

HOLY CRAP YOU CAN KILL SOMEONE WITH THAT THING!!!

And the book is incredible. From the rule details, charts and all the hobby aspects they put into it, GW did an amazing job with this edition. Fold out pages, beautiful artwork.

Nice job GW. You sold me......

    NOW.....what to play?

I've also been holding out on picking up the hardcover...but my resolve is weakening.

I'll have to see where I'm at after the next Infinity tournament. Perhaps I'll pick it up instead of waiting for the boxed set.

I have to say I don't really like the direction.

I loved the last rule book and read it, cover to cover, many times, but there is a point where books are too big. Although I appreciate the new content, I don't want to carry something like that. I already have two army transport cases, several additional foam trays, and my tools and paint to lug into the store.

I am currently waiting for a smaller version that will slip into the pouch on my Battlefoam bag (hopefully the starter set comes out soon). I will not be spending $75 on the FHBRB - which is a shame, because I would enjoy reading it.

you will probably read it one time and then you will never use it for normal games , tournaments or even checking rules at home . its big , heavy and you are going to worry about dmging it, at least I would because more then once I spilled my wifes paints on our rule book or dexs .

I said I liked it. Now what army would go with it?? I have no clue nor do I even know if I will EVER come back to GW. The retail to field and 1850 pt army still scares me.

Like I said before bro. It will take something major to bring me back.

I'm just stating that the $75 price tag on that rulebook is actually worth the price tag after spending a good 45 minute thumbing through it

It comes with it's own special abilities to confer to you:

Preferred Enemy (ruleslawyers only): re-rolling failed To-Hit and Wound
Unwieldy: You strike at Initiative 1 for its bulk
Instant Death: Because being hit by a book that wieghs this much will kill you !!!
Rending: Because a leather jacket or hoodie offers no armour save
    and finally
Smash: Because this book will pulp any size of gamer.
