    Default 2k Eldar w/ SM Allies

    With my first 6th edition tournament at the end of August, it is time for me to prepare a list.

    The tournament is 1999 pts to disallow double force org. Lame.

    I don't like close combat in 6th ed. I want to like it, but random charge lengths don't offer the kind of control that i like. Terminators and other 2+ save units will be a huge pain in the ***, so I will tailor my list against them.

    This is my first draft:

    As you can see, I have plenty of AP1/AP2 weaponry that is absolutely devastating when combined with Null Zone. The Psychic Defense that the Farseer provides is also very useful. Hopefully the volume of twin-linked S6 firepower the Wave Serpents provide will be enough to deal with any fliers I come across.

    Good amount of pies to deal with numbers, decent amount of High-S weaponry to deal with vehicles.

    Crusaders are 3++ wounds to protect the rest of the minis, but they are optional if you want to free up points. Coteaz also helps you go first more often, and if he joins the Servitor unit (3 servitors with plasma cannons) he provides a 12" bubble against DSing units. Lots of plasma means you can deal with both tanks and high armor miniatures, specially since you can now move and shoot at 24".

    I had considered using Grey Knights instead, but the loss of Null Zone is not worth the increase in firepower imo.

    Also, I reeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaally don't want to model henchmen, lol.

    I hadn't thought of using Coteaz, however. Definitely an interesting option. I think if I ran GKs I would want a regular and elite Psyflemen dread... that kind of firepower is hard to pass up!

    I love that you're trying to make Eldar and SM work as I'm considering the same thing.

    The problem, however, lies in wanting to use SM psychic powers with Eldrad on the board. As per the allies of convenience rules, your SM librarian is going to suffer from Runes of Warding. As such, if you want to reliably cast anything, you need to drop runes of warding, but then you're losing one of the major draws of Eldar.

    What I've been considering is making SM primary with Eldar as allies. Seems to me that Farseer, harlequins, war walkers, and either rangers or dire avengers is the way to go. That's just my thinking, though!

    I don't have enough SM to make them the primary detachment, unfortunately. But thanks for pointing out that Runes of Warding affects the Librarian... so they need to go. That was the only reason why I was bringing the Farseer anyway!

    Here's an updated list, replacing the Farseer and the Vindicator with my favorite Special Character...
