Default DnD Dungeon Command

Does anyone have any experience with the new DnD RPG thing, with the miniatures, Dungeon Command? Specifically the miniature quality, I know the rules/modules themselves have been very well received.

There is also the Sting of Lolth pack with some drow and such.

I want to know if the miniatures are good enough to be worth repainting or if I should jsut get the rules off someone and use my own miniatures.

They don't look that good from their pictures.... But... Without physically seeing them.

Yep, but the photos are small and they are pre-painted which usually means terrible photographs. There is actually a store nearby that sell the damn things but they didn't have one open and wouldn't open one unless I bought it (fair enough).

Eh, not really, there's a board game shop near GW in town. He'll let you look at everything before buying it.
He doesn't have DnD however. :/

They are exactly the same miniatures from the now discontinued D&D collectible pre-painted mini's line. The sculpt quality varies wildly but most are not that great imho. They were designed to be random minis in booster packs, marketed at those who have no time or inclination to paint their own figures.
Either there is life in the universe more intelligent than us, or we are the most intelligent form of life in the universe. Either way, it's a worrying thought!

Brakkart is correct... they are the exact same minis as the old D&D collectible lines.

In other words... they are complete crap. I have a bunch of the kobolds and goblins that I use for DnD since I don't want to waste time painting those little buggers but otherwise... I'd avoid them as they are intended for a completely different crowd.

So not even worth re-painting or painting as statues? Damn, I wanted the modiles but don't like paying for rubbish miniatures.

You might be able to find them cheap on E-Bay and if so... go for it if you are interested. I wouldn't pay full price for those though.

Yeah...they're legit bad EG. Don't waste your time on the minis.

The game, however, is actually very, very fun. Certainly worth checking out.
