The Cataphractii Pattern was amongst the first Terminator armour issued, and suits of this type were even more heavily protected than their contemporaries. Slab-like ceramite pauldrons housed additional shield generators, although this formidable protection came at the cost of the wearer’s speed, and the trade between agility and survivability meant that this pattern was beginning to decline among some Legions at the outbreak of the Heresy.

Designed by Will Hayes, the iconic Cataphractii Pattern Terminators is a set of 5 detailed multi-part resin models which includes an optional sergeant shield, bare head and a grenade harness. Already got 10! Likely to end up with quite a few spare bits. But not the Axes. TDA has asked for those already. Needed the Combi-Bolters, but the chain axes just don't suit Emperor's Children.

I want to like these so badly, but...


I'm just not feeling it.

The new Storm Bolters are great, but the actual Cataphractii are just... well, a bit plain. And clunky. They're not very dynamic, and don't look they could move. The power plant on the back is a lovely bit of detailing, but the helmets have no elegance or intimidation to them, and I just don't like them. At all.

Which is a little depressing, actually. Roll on preheresy Autocannon and Heavy Bolter Devastators! Now those are some lovely models.

i love the lightning claws and the bolters, the fists and axes are a little....... meh

the auto cannon is HUGE!!!!! though. i will probably get a set for my next SM project when it happens but my BA are the top of the liat ATM and they are all mk IV so i have tartaros for those.
