    Default Finally, Fleet begun

At long last finally got my foot in the door with BFG, picked up both books and the first ships of my space marine fleet. The battle barge looks a bit more difficult to assemble than i imagined, but i am starting it in the morning. Two strike cruisers to assemble next.

No sign or word from Forgeworld on the escorts i ordered, so i put in for six of each type from GW. That brings my fleet up to 1830 points paid for, 715 received, none assembled.

Hangs head in shame. Started on one of the strike cruisers and failed abysmally. The superglue gel i used would not set, so the ship is still in bits. Will be monday at least before i get a chance to try again. On the positive side, I've spent some quality time studying the rulebooks while my other half watched chef programs on tv. By the time i manage to get a fleet together, i might even understand some of them.

    Hi Praxis,

I would humbly suggest epoxy over superglue for a longer-lasting bond.

However, superglue can do a nice job on clean, flat surfaces.

Whichever you use, hang in there - we were all neophytes at one time!

I'm not worried about the stand The old land speeder Typhoon, with the metal missile launcher, was a lot heavier and i got that sorted. Thanks for the advice, schoon, will be shopping on monday for fresh glues at my local hardware superstore. I will look out for epoxy. Abominable Plague marine, Only just purchased my first digital camera for expressly that purpose. Soon as i learn how to use it, and have some ships to photo, i will.

Just wanted to offer a little "cheerleading", I know how daunting beginning a new squad, stand or fleet (pick yer poison!) can be, especially when you're starting a new game system...but it's almost always more rewarding in the end when you pay your dues early, right?

Anyway, good luck and keep the faith.

p.s. The Forgeword sm escorts are cracking little models.

Successful day. Now have two GW strike cruisers and a battle barge and twelve FW escorts fully assembled and on stands. Loctite precision superglue did the job comfortably. Going to leave them a few days before undercoating though, to see if anything falls off.

You realize, of course, that this is the part where we begin to demand pictures, right?

I do indeed, and have purchased my first digital camera for just that purpose. Now, i just have to learn how to use it, then learn how to load and post pictures. They are coming, but dont hold your breath CrusherJoe. Plus the girlfreind is dragging me off on holiday next friday, so thats going to set me back a week. Work doesnt help either.
