Closing a thread about a topic that already has a thread going on is fine, its good practice to keep a forum clean and streamlined, the way TDA did it was, fittingly, childish.

He's a child and he is rude and impertinent because of that. He clearly favours some posters over others and not in a way that helps to build community, had eldargal started the thread about Primarch prowess, no doubt he'd be agreeing with everything she said in the thread right now.

He's not a good moderator at all. He'll probably ban me for this.

    Hi there Doc

I love a good chin wag about the primarchs as much as anyone and I will always maintain that which ever primarch is my favorite, is the best lol. Unfortunately I have this problem where I really like them all for the most part.
I see them all as being different facets of the Emperors persona with each having their own strengths in areas they were specialised in.
This is why I find it so hard to stick to one chapter for very long. For the most part any loyalist legion has caught my eye at one time or another.

As for TDA, don't be so hard on him. He is a good guy and a friend. We may not always agree with a Mods decision, but for the best part I think he does a good job. The derailment thing was a joke and one that's run it's course. Hell if it weren't for these self same horseman ( you know who you are ) then the forums would be a lot quieter and lacking the "fun" factor.

I don't want to see this as an attack on your OP, you have a point of view. Fair enough. But let's talk some more about primarchs. Today I think Leman Russ is my favorite and therefor most powerful, after all he did hand Magnus his arse didn't he.

Had EG started it, it would be an old thread, and she would resurrect it when new information became available.

TDA keeps things pretty clean around here, and doesn't really interfere at a mod level with too much going on. Rarely will you see the mod voice drop pod assault on something. Look at other forums online, and see how active mods are at policing their communities.

It can also become tedious for those on the forums who have been around a long time to rehash the same points over and over. That's why it is helpful for someone like yourself to find the existing conversations, and threadomancy them to add your points and let the thread pick back up.

Having said all that, the Primarchs are relatively evenly matched with no outside influences. For example, Leman Russ is considered a better warrior than Lion El'Jonson, but the two fought to a stalemate, yet The Lion was able to knock Leman Russ unconscious with a single blow when he was unprepared. One could argue that no pre-heresy conflict between Primarchs was a fair test, because none would use obviously lethal force, and no post-heresy conflict is a fair test due to Daemonic gifts.

So obviously, Lion El'Jonson is the best.

The boards have not been 'clean' lately. They have been littered with inane, immature, and completely random chatter that floods the threads and breaks up the discussions. The mod doesn't interfere because he is one of the primary sources of the static.

I don't care if people like turning conversations that others are having into their own personal IM sessions, but to allow that kind of silliness and then obnoxiously shut down a thread for the simple sin that another like it ended a month ago shows how giving 'authority' to certain people can be a serious mistake.

Would you like this responsibility Rapture? Would you?

Firstly, yes, I accept the fact that I do talk about other things on threads, and that I do that a lot. I apologise for trying to be light-hearted. Personally, I would rather have a fun conversation than one that's constantly an argument, because for one simple reason; I see how it affects people's behaviour outside of that argument.
However much you may say that you have broad shoulders you don't. That argument will affect you, whether you say it does or not.
There are at least a dozen arguments on here daily, and when you come and moan to me about it I look into it and resolve it for you.
Rapture, you yourself have reported people for being rude, and I have followed up those claims and dealt with them MYSELF. So please, before you start slandering me, think about what I'm doing in the background.

EDIT: A notice to all those who have defended me, thank you, but it is not necessary.

2ND EDIT: OrksOrksOrks, that opinion is a shame, I used to overlook things that you posted because I thought you were cool.
Remember, I will do unto you as you do unto me.

I think you need to avoid this. As a mod, you really need to be as impartial as you can in regards to "censoring" and closing threads. I'd hate for the moderation of these forums to become as biased as some of the other ones.

With that being said, I think, for the most part, your intent is right in many of the hobby related threads. I do, however, think in the Obliette you need to be a bit more liberal in your interpretation of when a thread needs closing. There have been heated, but very civil, discourses shut down in the Obliette regarding politics and topically relevant material because, I think, you fear them getting out of hand.

Contrarily, I think our Obliette is one of the most even "political" forums on the net; we have a solid mix of folks from all backgrounds that are usually able to provide informed discourse without becoming too volatile. It's actually why I like to discuss it here; I think we have a good group.

So simply, I'd encourage you, if at all possible, to always take the high road as a mod and to be a bit more judicious in the political threads you close. Cheers!

I think we have generally moved most of the major tangents to their own thread really...

However the process of robo-insemination is far too complex for the human mind!

Would I? Would I? What does whether I would or would not assume a position that I find to be unrewarding have to do with anything?

I do report people who flood other reasonable forum members with thoughtless attacks. I do it only because I don't like having to read what unreasonable people have to say. And, you should deal with them yourself, as that is the responsibility of the position that you volunteered for.

I certainly do not 'moan' to you when I am in an argument. If I am arguing, it is because I think I am right. Your support is the last thing that anyone would want when they are trying make a reasonable argument.

The emphasis is mine. Here I am, wasting my time stating how you are childish, a toady, and unsuited to hold any responsibility. If I had know that you would just come on here and admit it, I would not even have bothered.

Edit: I forgot to give my deepest condolences to OrksOrksOrks on the death of his 'Cool Kid' status. Check you mail for a card. Stay strong.

2nd Edit: Using the word 'slander' implies a falsehood, nothing negative that has been said about you is untrue.

    Yep, I'm unresponsible. What up?

Sorry for, y'know, making friends with people here. Maybe I should resort to being a Social Pariah?

Now you see, if you had simply worded it like Wittdooley did, then I might consider your statement. But no, you've just come out on an all-out attack against me.

Not to go off on a tangent, but there is a store roughly three minutes away from my work, which would otherwise be the most convenient shopping location to me for hobby and supplies and the perfect place to get a quick game in after work. On at least three separate occasions, I ran in there looking for a quick paint or glue and encountered a political argument so repulsive that I stopped going there entirely. I hate when politics invades my escapist hobby. Except when someone on this forum posted an immense eagle pic that I had to scroll several screens over to see in response to a post. That was hilarious.
