Default Murder Talon + Grand Cavalcade Synergies - Return of the Daemon Bomb

With the new rules for the Night Lords posted up, there are some great synergies between the Murder Talon detachment (based entirely on the rumored rules and formations so take with the normal serving of salt) and the often overlooked Grande Cavalcade formation for Slaanesh Daemons.

So why these two? Lets take a quick look at the set-up:

Grande Cavalcade: Incredibly low point cost and FAST! The formation is made up of Slaanesh seekers and chariots, and gives them an EXTRA 6" on their run move. Combine this with the Daemon of Slaanesh rule which gives cavalry ANOTHER EXTRA 6" during run, and you have a unit that can run up 24" + d6 on turn 1. But the key to the synergy is the access to Icons, which helps with DS scatter mitigation. A min unit with icon runs u 70 pts.

The Chariots also incredibly cheap (40 pts base) which gives you flexibility in terms of list building. The Herald can be kitted out the be a little murder machine in challenges and has access to Telepathy tree, you can fish for invisibility or shrouded. Not too shabby.

A formation with a Herald with ML2, 3 chariots and 3 seekers will run you less than 450 pts.

Murder Talon: This detachment gives you some great bonuses and synergies. Mainly NIGHT FIGHT! This will help those daemonic gals survive that first turn as they run the board.

You can take the Raptor Talon as a Core. There was so much hype over this formation, but one of the biggest weaknesses was no scatter mitigation. This is where Warp Talons come in. They are considered daemons, so they can make use of those icons to mitigate scatter (rolls only 1d6 for scatter). 3 min units of warp talons and a lord with some upgrades (assuming about 150 pts) should run you a little under 650 pts.

So for about 1000 - 1100 pts, you have the basis of the army, giving you plenty of points to play around with (assuming you are playing at 1500 - 1850). This gives you a fast force that can get up the board and deliver the warp talons where you need them. The first turn, your daemon forces have night fight to help them get across and reduce casualties. You can use the chariots to block LOS to the seekers or provide additional cover. First turn you will be basically in their deployment zone if you move 12", run 12"+d6. From there, you drop your talons on the enemy faces, making use of the chaos icons. Statistically, you should get 2 of the 3 WT to come in. They can attempt to blind the enemy, then charge in, rerolling failed charges, and once in combat, they take a fear test at -4 Ld!

Filling in the rest of the army, you can see that one thing that might give you problems is armor. Both the raptor talon and grand cavalcade lack any real high S attack, so take that into account.

on top of the murder talon take a DP with wings, Demon of TZ, and Stormbolt Plate - he then has 2+ armour, 2+ cover (4+ jink +1 NL, +1 Plate), and is a Demon of Tzeentch so re-rolls ones on his saves all for 220pts... enjoy.
use as Lord of Legion, add in a formation to take out high armour e.g. Obliterators/Predators w/ Lascannons formation to take out tanks as well.

you could also only have say two squads of Warp Talons, and add in 1 Squad of Raptors with Meltaguns etc. for tank hunting duties.
