Default Modeling the new DA sacred standards

I'm going to have to proxy a Standard of Devastation (dakka pole) or Standard of Fortitude ('ard pole), aren't I?

I'm not even going to try to free hand a centerpiece banner. :/

Any suggestions?
Calm down. This is supposed to be FUN.

One thing I did for my exorcists...

1) Find a suitably cool image.
2) Shrink it down until it's a suitably small size.
3) Print it out.
4) Make a square of greenstuff the exact same size, and very thin (about one centimeter)
5) Put the banner you printed onto the greenstuff and press down just hard enough that the paper bonds to the putty.
6) Let sit for 30 to 45 minutes.
7) Bend putty-banner until it takes on windblown shape.
8) Let cure.
9) Spray the whole thing with a matte sealant.
10) The matte sealant will give it enough grit that you can paint over the visible green back with whatever color you like (black, Dark Angels green, whatever).
11) Attach the resulting banner to a naked banner backpack bit, or do a little conversion to put that into a veteran's hand, or make your own naked banner bit out of plasticard or tubes or whatever.
12) Thank ElectricPaladin profusely and post pictures of your resulting creation!

EDIT: Also, sorry to spoil your personal record!

BLASPHEMY! The Sacred Banner's of the First Legion are not Back-pack Banners. You can search the net or find a 2nd or 3rd edition Dark Angels codex and copy the one you need, cut it out and attach it to the banner that comes with the Command Squad and model a Dark Angel Holding the Banner pole. Do the Banner proud! Attach it to a backpack... *Shakes head*

I haven't posted on here in forever, but I saw some bits that might help you out, because I thought about using these myself. There's a company called Hitech Miniatures that makes alternative models, conversion bits, bases, and so on. http://hitechminiatures.com/

They had a line of banners that they had made a couple of years ago for use with Grey Knights, Dark Angels, and the like. The Dark Angel banners were called "Banners of Glory" and I think they would look awesome as the sacred standards. The only issue is that they no longer have them for sale on their website - apparently they discontinued them to avoid intellectual property rights issues. However, you can still find them on third-party webites such as ebay. This website says it has good stock of them: http://www.frpgames.com/cart.php?m=product_detail&p=68731#.UPjiMKzNmSo

Here's a good image of them: http://images.frpgames.org/products/product_68731.jpg

An article with a good review on them (including a picture for size comparison with Terminator armor): http://darkfuturegaming.blogspot.com/2011/03/hi-tech-miniatures-resin-banner-review.html

Hope that helped!
