    Default Smoke Cover Save

    Greetings All,

Somewhat new to 40K but enjoying it. Quick question, I see where the rules talk about cover saves but they don't talk about smoke from a burning vehicle. Smoke is covered as a save from a smoke launcher but not something burning between you and your target. It makes sense that smoke would obscure your target causing a cover save but is that actually in the rules anywhere?

Just the cover save from the actual vehicle model, I guess the smoke is included in that. Other than that there are no rules for wrecked vehicle smoke.

Not strictly speaking, but there is something sort of similar. If a vehicle is wrecked (as opposed to explodes), the vehicle model remains on the table and confers a 5+ cover save (see page 74), which happens to be the same as smoke. However, the wreck does not gain any extra height, as if from a smoke plume.

On a side note, a wrecked vehicle may not be smoking. Could be the drive train or anti-grav unit is out, or those Haywire grenades fried the electronics, etc.
