While the Thrawn trilogy was really good stuff, there's far too much stuff going on to compress down to ~6 hours of film, so you'd either lose a bunch of the subplots, or they'd get mashed in very awkwardly. On the plus side, Benedict Cumberbatch would be pretty much an auto-include as Thrawn. On the minus side, that would have everybody comparing it to Into Darkness and not actually looking at whatever was actually done.

if you still have your CDs you can still play the orig. X wing vs tie Fighter (And Expansion)..(I am) someone fixed it up so you can install it on x64 bit systems, and its as glorious as I remember it!

You might be right, though on the otherhand they managed to cut out the subplots in Harry Potter reasonably well and still have it work.

My dream for the Thrawn trilogy is a television series with 13-22 episodes per book and GoT level of investment.
