    Default Industrial Terrain Project

    Hi,
I thought it might be interesting to post on a project in progress rather than just the final result. I had the idea to do some kind of an industrial piece (something I've never tried before). To be honest I really don't know what it's going to be; I guess some kind of factory or pump station or something. I figure I'll just make it up as I go along. And hopefully I'll get some good comments/suggestions as I go forward.
In keeping with the theme of not really having a plan, for some reason I felt like working on the roof first (probably would have been better to start at the bottom, but as a rule of thumb, I never like to waste motivation).
So, starting completely from scratch, I knew it should have all sorts of industrial stuff up there and the first thing that came to mind was an old tanker car that's been in my bits box forever. It was from a really cheap/crappy train set I ran across and thought it might make for a good terrain piece someday (and lo and behold a mere 8 years later...).
I read about the so called "hairspray technique" and have been eager to try it out. Only I used an AK Interactive product ("Heavy Chipping") rather than actual hairspray.
After cleaning up the fuel tank, airbrushed it brown and then stippled different shades of brown, black, and even a little orange on there.

Then, airbrushed on a few shades of green

Then hit it what the Worn Effects product and picked at it with a wet brush

Then a gloss coat to begin the washes/weathering. Will use lot's of browns, black, and rust colors.
