Default SW: The Clone Wars Cancelled

Well, ****.

As part of Kathleen Kennedy's shake-up, Lucasfilm has announced that the CGI animated series has been wound down to make room for other projects, and that The Clone Wars will air no further episodes on The Cartoon Network. That's not the last we've seen from the show however, as Supervising Director Dave Filoni promises that unspecified "bonus content" is planned to complete some gaps in The Clone Wars story arcs.

In addition to that content, Lucasfilm is developing a new animated series, presumably to air on Disney XD, "set in a time period previously untouched in Star Wars films or television programming". We'll bring you more on that as soon as it arrives.
So sad, my mother and I are halfway through series 4 and we were looking forward to the fact we would have series 5 and then a series six to look forward to. They had been working on season six, buti nstead we get some unspecified 'bonus content'.

As long as it gets wrapped up, I'm not fussed.

We all know it could only go on for so long, given it has an established time scale.

But for those who haven't seen it, do! It's awesomely awesome!

That's the thing, they planned for six seasons so what wrapping up there has been/will be it won't be across ten/eleven hours of episodes. Hopefully the bonus content will be decent but it is still sad.

Question - was there not 2 clone wars animated, one with almost characatured, mangaesque figures with big chins, and the digital version I presume EG is referring to?

Pretty much identical. First two, a prequel gap filler for Episode 3 was cel animated. Series proper is CGI.

Is the cel animated worth getting?

I'd say so. Set immediately before Episode 3. And explains why Grevious is a wheezy pants!

In addition, it looks like other Star Wars enterprises are being scaled back or scrapped.

Although these announcements only refer to Lucasfilm animation projects, the news doesn’t bode well for fans who were excited about the live-action crime-themed TV show Star Wars: Underworld or the bleak-looking videogame Star Wars 1313. It feels like Lucasfilm is closing the book on all those projects, and on the whole post-2005 era of long-rumored, intriguing-sounding spin-offs.

I wouldn't read too much into it. The other animated show has only been delayed and there hasn't been any word on the other projects except 1313 which Lucasarts have said is still in production.
