The Light shines brightest in the Darkness - Project Tau

Hey everyone,


So, I'm back to Tau. Finally.
I'm now trying to master this codex, as I have with Necrons and Dark Angels.

On the Sept world of Rhi'tel, there is one Tau who stands out amongst the many, who shines like a beacon in a universe of ignorance. He is named Mekrisho Va'nui, or Bringer of the Light.
Mekrisho embodies the relentless fury of the Greater Good, a former student of Commander Shadowsun, he now strikes out his own mark on the galaxy.

Rhi'tel is a world covered in Mountain ranges, and as such, the Tau of this world build their homes into the rock. Creating an immense underground civilisation.
The Tau of Rhi'tel are considered grim and outlandish to the rest of the Tau Empire, though they are excellent fighters. Mekrisho drills his men daily, making his warriors perfect for any kind of situation.

The warriors of Rhi'tel are currently engaging Orks, this has lead to a very close quarters style of fighting, and Rhi'tel has become famous for it's guerilla fighting infantry. The Crisis teams use the environment to it's full extent, jumping between buildings, and infiltrating sewers.
Mekrisho leads his warriors personally, overseeing the commands of his Fire Warriors, making sure that the Tau do not retreat.
His battlesuit is unique in design, and has been designated the XV891 "Criterion" Battlesuit. It's based on the XV89 suit which uses the same armour plating build up. The XV891 has been given a series of upgrades, including it's forearm weaponry, capable of producing a lightbeam sword that can cut through the hardest tank armour with ease. On his shoulders are a pair of Burst Cannons, which shred the foe as Lightbringer charges.

The Sept colour of Rhi'tel is purple, denoting the loyalty they have to the Greater Good.

I think your commander has too many systems - he has 7 (is that right?) I thought you could only have 4? (or is it 4 weapons and 3 systems??)

Signature systems and support systems are different

I want a Tau army now too... It would look a lot like this one actually.

I think giving Longstrike an Ion Cannon is a waste. Sure he'll slag a few marines.

But you lack anything that will reliably deal with AV12 or higher. You've got an Arseton of S7, but bar the riptide nothing higher.

Give Longstrike the Railcannon he deserves and it's a good list

I was more thinking of the shot advantage when the enemy charge.

I'd rather fire 7 shots than 5.

He has 4 weapon/support systems as per codex entry, then he can take any number of signature items. Of which he has 3.

Needs more SMS though.

There are 4 sources of SMS in this army as it stands.
