Neither of those threads, or the LGBT are exactly promoting a specific stand point.

They're all very general discussion about specific topics.

The Oubliette is one of the most mature boards I've ever encountered. Yes things occasionally get heated, but not flamey or troll infested. That's good debate right there. It's healthy discussion.

Coming onto a thread, and having your opinions challenged in a robust manner should be expected. Having experienced that and then wanting to get a thread shut down because isn't terribly good behaviour.

If you feel the discussion is pointless, don't join in.

I assumed that rule was more to do with bickering over party politics rather than issues which have a political dimension. I mean the fact is that everything can be a political issue. Crime is a political issue, education is a political issue, the Sydney siege is a political issue, if we can't discuss anything that might have a political issue then we can't discuss anything. Feminism certainly has a political element because how our society treats anyone is inherently political but it is not solely a political issue.

Feminism IS political, it is NOT politics.
