I don't see why not, just peg it as a spin off not a remake or ghost busters 3, as both of those have prior expectations, but a franchise elsewhere staffed by women? why not?

Yup, plus there have already been female Ghostbusters in the cartoon and comics. The comic going now is actually all women bar one I think? With two all male films already it's hardly unreasonable to have an all women film.

Edit: I like the talk of Gamora getting her own film after Guardians 2, hopefully it is more than just talk. If Marvel don't slip in Black Widow, Gamora and a few other female leads by 2018 or something it will be something in the order of 15 films with male leads and 13-14 with white male leads. Ten of them by actors named Chris.

I think it is a good idea, not just form the feminism thing but generally. It's been well established that pulling back old actors to doa sequel twenty years down the line just ends up with it being rubbish. Far better to have a clean slate and why not do an all woman cast.

Also agreed. No reason why you couldn't have the surviving () members of the original team make appearances too if you really wanted. But does anyone really want to see borderline geriatric Bill Murray wobbling around under that pack?

Still just a rumour and not confirmed.
Bridesmaids was pretty funny though so if it happens it could be good.
