Unfortunately, this is literally the case with most of the gear-- the scary military-grade stuff is being given away basically free from the Department of Defense (oversees the military), with the caveat that you must prove you need it and prove you're using it. So when the town of Podunk gets a new MRAP troop truck, they have to justify having it by sending it out on X number of calls per year. And things go right downhill from there.

In other news about men being garbage:

18 year old named Tristen Cole Killman rapes three girls, films himself doing it and bragging about it. Not arrested, girls get suspended and forced to leave school due to bullying and being called a "distraction" by the faculty. The rapist is later suspended for sharing the video at school. It's just as much about the legal system being garbage too. A useless system like this is why I would never be able to prosecute anyone who handed out proper justice.

One of the most idiotic programs are supremely stupid leaders have ever enacted. If people want to play with the big scary toys they need to join the f***ing armed forces. The country does NOT need a bunch of half trained wanna be cowboys tooling around with equipment meant for a bloody warzone!

They do. All are armed with some variety of pistol and for ages there has been the SWAT units... but now they giving out automatic assault weapons and armoured vehicles like candy. We have truly abandoned any semblance of sanity.

So I read the back of my crisp packet today - I do that every day, if there are letters on a thing my automatic, almost compulsory instinct is to read them, but the different thing today was it was a packet of McCoys, because Asda were doing them at two six-packs for £2.

It said "MAN CRISPS."
