I'm sure there's room to make him disappear under the Patriot Act... noone actually knows what most of the new laws enacted after the 9/11 terrorist attacks do anyhow.

I don't know what worse - the apology, or the thought it might genuinely never have occurred to him that what he was doing was offensive and questionably legal.

I can believe that he genuinely didn't realise. A lot of men really struggle with the idea that women are fully human and not NPCs in a video game that only react in certain pre-determined ways that you can exploit with 'tactics' like this.
