This essentially sums up mainstream feminism. White feminists policing the actions, thoughts and speech of black feminists in order to “discredit” them. Yet they have no problem co-opting the raised fist within a Venus zodiac sign even though that symbol has been used to express the struggle of black women/other women of color/indigenous women/women in third world countries. NOT MIDDLE CLASS WHITE WOMEN. In fact, I declare Ms. Lennox’s actions and thoughts as “Feminist Lite” because POLICING BLACK WOMEN IS NOT FEMINISM. NEVER HAS BEEN AND NEVER WILL BE. Take your racist, privileged European *** somewhere else.
The white feminists who sprout this bull**** are often the same ones who defend Miley Cyrus and call her a feminist for “liberating girls’ sexualities”. So when Beyoncé twerks and sings about having consensual sex with her husband it’s too sexual, it’s pandering to the male gaze, and it’s not feminist. However when Miley Cyrus twerks, allows fans to touch her crotch during concerts (can you imagine what they would say if Beyoncé or any other black woman did that), continually appropriates AA culture and uses black women’s bodies as props, it’s “liberating”.

White feminism is continually uplifting and praising white women (even when they’re mediocre) while pushing woc under the bus. And that is all anyone needs to know about it.
Source. Mainstream feminism has issues, none of them relating to misandry. One of them is racism, especially in America but here too.

They really, really might want to look into who Annie Lennox is, and the ridiculous amount of work she has done in Africa regarding HIV........

Because you know, Annie Lennox hasn't gone after Beyonce because she's black. Then to add in a random bit, giving the general impression Annie Lennox herself has praised Miley Cyrus??

That's a very, very poor article. They've seen a criticism of Beyonce, and instantly decided it's based on race over all other possible things. Pathetic, quite frankly.

Quick consult of Wikipedia throws this up about her charity work....

A video was also produced.[58]

HIV campaigners, Memory Sachikonye (l) and Annie Lennox (r) met with Secretary of State for International Development Andrew Mitchell
Lennox has been a public supporter of Amnesty International and Greenpeace for many years, and she and Dave Stewart donated all of the profits from Eurythmics' 1999 Peacetour to both charities.[59]

Concerned by Tibet freedom,[60] she supported Amnesty International campaigns for the release of Tibetan prisoners Palden Gyatso and Ngawang Choephel.[61]

In 2006, in response to her humanitarian work, Lennox became patron of the Master's Course in Humanitarian and Development Practice for Oxford Brookes University.[2] In October 2006, Lennox spoke at the British House of Commons about the need for children in the UK to help their counterparts in Africa.[2]

On 25 April 2007, Lennox performed "Bridge over Troubled Water" during the American Idol "Idol Gives Back" fundraising drive.[62]

Lennox's 2007 song "Sing" was born out of her involvement with Nelson Mandela's 46664 campaign and Treatment Action Campaign (TAC), both of which are human rights groups which seek education and health care for those affected by HIV.[2][40] In December 2007, Lennox established The SING Campaign, an organisation dedicated to raising funds and awareness for women and children affected by HIV and AIDS.[63]

On 11 December 2007, she performed in the Nobel Peace Prize Concert in Oslo, Norway together with a variety of artists, which was broadcast to over 100 countries.[64] Lennox appeared at the Nelson Mandela 90th Birthday Tribute in June 2008[65] and then led a rally against the Gaza War in London on 3 January 2009.[66]

Lennox opened the 2009 Edinburgh Festival of Politics with commentary on Pope Benedict XVI's approach to HIV/AIDS prevention in Africa. She said that the Pope's denunciation of condoms on his recent tour of Africa had caused "tremendous harm" and she criticised the Roman Catholic Church for causing widespread confusion on the continent. Lennox also condemned the media's obsession with "celebrity culture" for keeping the AIDS pandemic off the front page. During her address, Lennox wore a t-shirt emblazoned with the words "HIV positive". Lennox wore similar t-shirts at the 25th Anniversary Rock & Roll Hall of Fame concert at Madison Square Garden on 30 October 2009,[67] during her appearance on The Graham Norton Show on 30 November 2009 (where she performed the new song "Full Steam", a duet with singer David Gray), during a recorded performance for American Idol during a 21 April 2010 fundraiser, entitled Idol Gives Back, and during a performance on the live Comic Relief show on 18 March 2011.

In June 2010, Lennox was named as a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for AIDS,[68] a role that continues as of August 2013. Lennox also works with other organisations such as Oxfam, Amnesty International and the British Red Cross in regard to the issue.[69]

Lennox also supports the Burma Campaign UK, a non-governmental organisation that addresses the suffering in Burma and promotes democratisation.[70]

In December 2010, it was confirmed that Lennox was in the New Years Honours List and would become an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in recognition of her humanitarian work. She received the award from Queen Elizabeth II on 28 June 2011.[71][72][73]

They aren't saying she is a bad person, they are just commenting on how white feminists are dismissive and even hostile to black feminists. Beyonce is a huge star and her coming out as a feminist is a big deal and the tepid reception from white feminists has been really disturbing frankly. We bang on about embracing sexuality and not holding women to a hypocritical double standard on sexual morality but then a black woman embraces her sexuality and it's The Worst Thing Ever. It's shameful.

They've just decided Annie Lennox, being a white feminist, must clearly have based her negative opinion on the colour of Beyonce's skin.

There is precisely nothing there to suggest that is Annie Lennox's motivation at all.

We need more intersectional feminism to become dominant.

Completely unrelated, but this sums up why feminism is needed for men too : http://imgur.com/gallery/zFwAcdB
As a non-cis male, I relate to it very much.

They didn't just decide, it takes place in a context where white feminists in the mainstream have been attacking her and Nicki Minaj over their sexuality while defending Miley Cyrus and other white women who have been doing the same thing.

There is no evidence at all that race is a factor in Annie Lennox's criticism. None at all. But they've decided it is.

By all means critcise the criticism, but do so factually.
