That's the dumbest thing you've said all day.

When someone dresses sexy, they're not doing anything to you. There is no aggressive action there. But when you say something, even if you think it's innocuous, you have taken action against that person. If you say something that offends someone, regardless of whether you intended to offend them or not, you should apologize. That's just good manners.

Well, they bloody well should. How hard is it to teach and have good manners and respect for other people? I mean, really? It's not like it's complicated. All you have to do is treat other people with the same respect you'd like to be treated with yourself. That's it.

Isn't it? All the major religions have some tenet or teaching that basically says "Be excellent to each other." It's not a standard that just some small segment of the population holds. It's a standard that the god/gods most of us worship challenge us to hold ourselves to. And I think we have a responsibility as human beings to meet that challenge, to be better people and show our children how to be better people. Nobody ever made the world a better place by shrugging their shoulders because "that's just the way it is." Things aren't going to get better unless we change and encourage others to change as well.

Yet they still kill each other for being the wrong sect, or put that aside to kill those of the wrong faith...

Oh my, don't bring religion into this. But what I will say is both of our prison systems population would disprove your point. Yes parents do have a duty to their children to ensure they pass on the message what's right and wrong. Unfortunately you don't have to be a good person to raise children.
What society is and what it should be are two very different things.
