People may scoff but this illustrates the way women are taught that our bodies are shameful. Penises are something you can talk about in public, draw, joke about etc. But a vagina is something shameful and obscene that should not be heard about except euphemistically and only as it relates to men. Even the proper word for it, like vagina, is censored. Wheres that clip from a gameshow here where *****=cat was not censored but *****=vagina was?

    This sentence hurts my brain.

Many reasons have been given to not produce models or alternate heads for female Space Marines or Guard or Regimental Advisers or Pilots or Commissars or Priests or Unique Independent Characters or any of the plethora of missed opportunities in the last 10 years in which GW could have diversified their product line. None of these reasons are valid.

GW has chosen to reserve production on female models only to armies and races which are alien, strange or monstrous, perpetuating the idea that women are somehow curious oddities that have no place in the boys club of heroes that make up their core product line.

Well without wishing to derail the thread further Space Marines are actually neither male nor female, technically they are both as they are hermaphrodites that reproduce asexually, but that's a whole other argument.

But they are meant to be sexless as they are based on Angels from the Old Testament / Revelations, so unable to reproduce in a natural way, hence the moniker "Angels of Death".

But as I say that's a discussion for elsewhere, lol.

I do agree though that it seems weird that when 40K initially started there was probably about an 80/20% split of male - female. We had female guardsmen, female adventurers etc.

Now apart from SoB there are no female human 40K models (except that one Catachan, but not sure that's available any more).

Seems a bit odd but whenever I have ever spoken to anybody at GW they always say they will never do female IG as they think that Little Johnny wouldn't want them....

However that is ridiculous as I doubt it would put off Little Johnny and heaven forbid might actually attract some younger female players.

Plus all the fluff for Cadia says it is about a 50/50 split between male and female in the ranks of the IG/AM there.

I guess equality only exists amongst the Dark Eldar, which is kinda ironic...

    Can we not?

I find it really hard not to get drawn into these arguments and I find they never go anywhere productive.

I'd personally like to see some female sculpts. I don't think this is about sexism though. And I don't blame GW. I just personally would like the option.

The homogeneity argument clearly boils down to two different levels of analysis. You can have 10 armies, each of which is 23% female. Within each army, mix of sex is heterogeneous. Between armies however, they're homogeneous (all armies are 23%). Sisters of battle are homogeneous but add heterogeneity to the across-faction mix.

The fact noone got this suggests this whole argument is going to go nowhere because you're not listening to each other.
