It's not a choice when you can be actively punished for not wearing makeup. Women miss out on promotions and even lose jobs and are viewed as less professional if they don't wear makeup.

yeah, she has mentioned before that when she was working her female colleagues kept buying her make up.

    The same article also says:
So what games have women been playing all these years, now that we know they haven't just been wasting time trying to get their Facebook friends to give them free lives on Candy Crush?

Casual computer games, mostly. The report ranks online and mobile puzzle games, board games, trivia games, and card games as coming in second to the boom in social games, which more than doubled in popularity between 2012 and 2013.
The Sims which was one of the highest selling "games" ever have a 65% women demographic according to EA.

Action, Strategy and Shooter games are an extremely small niche compared to casual and social games. So when game developers like EA say things like: Women 'too big an audience to ignore' they dont plan on making Action, Strategy and Shooter games more appealing to women through protagonist and story but to produce content like the Nintendo WII:
Knight believes a big reason the Wii has been successful is that women find it more accessible than other consoles. "The Wii levels the playing field," she said. "You don't embarrass yourself--you can grab it and right away start having fun. ... [Wii games] don't require the same investment to learn and to master how to pick up and play [as other consoles' games]."
Which may be a step forword for women but a huge step backwards for the small niche of Action, shooter and strategy games.

Strategy has been a niche market kept alive by the PC for years.

But I normally refer to the muppets that just play the latest call of battlefield x casual gamers

There was a poll which found strategy and RPGs were two of the more popular genres with wimmin.

Yup people who only play FPSes and sports games are definitely casual gamers.

And the article you provided says otherwise.
I rather trust in the article as social and casual puzzle/quiz/card games not beeing the most played games across all gender would be rather strange (heck even my father plays stuff like free cel and solitaire, yes these games qualify for these statistics too)

The article saying social games being popular doesn't also negate that it says the stereotype that women ONLY play those games is false. People play both, women play both. Games play both, women are games. That is what it boils down to. For 50% of gamers to be women and for women to only play social games then women would be massively over-represented in social games and they are not.

No, this is not what it boils down too. As I never doubted the demographics. I just warn that Women 'too big an audience to ignore' does not nessassary mean more rpg/strategy/shooter/action games with female lead/story/better representation. Which is basically what I would like to see instead of Sims 4 or Sims social.
