Armies will consist of 1850 points or less, consisting of a Primary Detachment using the standard Force Organization Chart. You may optionally take a single Allied Detachment and/or a single Fortification.

Players MUST use the same army list throughout the tournament.

The following codices (print or iBooks version) are allowed in the Warhammer 40K Championships: Codex Black Templars, Codex Blood Angels, Codex Chaos Daemons, Codex Chaos Space Marines, Codex Dark Angels, Codex Dark Eldar, Codex Eldar, Codex Grey Knights, Codex Imperial Guard , Codex Necrons, Codex Orks, Codex Sisters of Battle (White Dwarf #380/381), Codex Space Marines, Codex Space Wolves, Codex Tau Empire, Codex Tyranids.

Michigan GT Judges will be used to resolve additional rules disputes.

Forge World/Imperial Armor units are NOT allowed in the Warhammer 40K Championships; however players may still use their Forge World models to represent a unit from their codex.

Warlord Traits will be determined per the Warhammer 40,000 rulebook (pg.111) or appropriate Codex prior to the start of each game.

Per the Warhammer 40K Rulebook v1.3 FAQ(pg. 9):At the start of each game, prior to deployment, players may choose to select the psychic powers listed in their Codex as normal OR swap them for a number of rolls on the psychic disciplines tables per the Warhammer 40,000 rulebook (pg. 418). Unless a unit or character specifically states otherwise, you MAY NOT mix and match Codex and rulebook powers. Psychic powers purchased from a Codex must be clearly indicated on your army list.

The models used in your army MUST be WYSIWYG and 3‐colors. Non‐GW models are allowed but should easily be identified for what they represent. If you have doubts, please contact us at [email protected]. Send photographs with your inquiry.

If illegal units or rules violations are found in a player’s list, at a minimum, the models in violation will be removed from all subsequent play. Tournament points may be deducted and award eligibility may be forfeited.

Michigan GT Judges’rulings are final and arguments or poor conduct by players will not be tolerated.

Michigan GT reserves the right to remove players from the tournament or Michigan GT itself with no refunds allowed.

    Appearance Scoring (06/12/2013)

Each category is worth 5 points

In your opinion was there honest effort put into painting this army? Was the army dipped in a vat of paint, or did the player actually try to the best of their ability, skill and time constraints to get their army painted?

Are ALL the models in this Army COMPLETELY painted? All models in the army must be base coated (no metal or plain primer showing) and as a rule of thumb have at least 3 different colors present on the model.

If Box 1&2 are checked, check this box as well. Extra credit!

Are ALL of the miniatures based up in a pleasing fashion? What we are talking about here is the plastic slottabase that Citadel Miniatures glue onto. If it is covered in flock, gravel, or sand and painted to look like grass, ground, or some part of a battlefield? Bases don’t have to be immaculate or fancy, just nice and neat so they don’t detract from the model.

Does the army feature insignia, camo schemes, or eye-catching items? We are talking about cohesive color schemes, camouflage patters or army-wide details that make the whole force seem cooler. Did the painter put some extra time to pick out or add cool basic details on the army? A basecoated Ultramarines army with all the matching “U” insignia on their shoulder pads would fit this category for instance.

Do the character models and the centerpieces standout? Was extra time spent painting important cogs of the army, such as characters, sergeants or vehicles?

Does the army look like an army? Does the force look coherent? Do the various regiments have colors, markings, insignia, etc that tie them together?

Is the army presented in an above average fashion? Is the army presented on a display board modeled in a fashion to tie the army together?

Was extra time and effort put into the painting of cool details? Does the army contain model conversions, extra details on bases, super hand painted banners, kill markings on vehicles, battle damage, expertly painted eyes, badges, or similar type of attention to cool but minute detail?

In your opinion is this army painted to an above average standard? In other words, this army is painted to a level that you would be pleased to put it on display to show off to friends & other hobbyists.
We aren’t talking about a few well painted characters, but the army on the whole.

Is this army on of your top three picks? Does the judge see this is one of his top three armies at the Michigan GT?
