Default Building the Great Gargant "Orkasmatron"

I really wanted to do this as a work in progress piece, but there was some concern amongst our group that we might not have the same impact if people knew what was coming. I'm not so sure those concerns were valid, but either way I think every thing turned out more or less according to plan.

I'll start at the end and go back to the beginning. Here is the last photo taken of "Orkasmatron", the mightiest of Ork Great Gargants, before we packed him up and headed down to Adepticon 2013. While there he helped us win the Best Team Theme and Appearance award for the Warhammer 40K Team Tournament.

Considering it's named after a Motörhead song / album, I should think so.

saw this bad boy in person. That was a stage and the square in his chest was a screen which played a video of orks rocking out. It was an awesome sight to see.

    Default Orkasmatron's Wooden Frame

A lot of different materials went into building Orkasmatron, the first of which was wood. We made sure to leave the center hollow, Da Gof Rockerz stage would eventually go there.

After setting the Carnifex on the frame we started to realize just how massive this guy was going to be.

Yes that is a stage. In this picture you can see the drum set and the back drop.

The idea was that when Da Gof Rockerz saw Orkasmatron they each got a vision from Gork and Mork. Those visions resulted in six looted tracks comprised of sounds long lost to the warp. They went on to perform the greatest concert in the history of the universe, dedicated to the might of the one "Orkasmatron".

While working on "Live From Da Boot" my brother and I would practice the Motörhead song. It ended up serving as a big inspiration for this project. Our finished version ended up sounding more like the Sepultura cover than the original: you can hear it here.

Thanks Grenndal, hope you had as much fun at Adepticon this year as we did. Here is the video of the Orks rocking out that we had playing on Orkasmatron's chest during the event. We are working on more animation material and should have something new done late this year or early next, so if you like this make sure to subscribe to our YouTube Channel.

Default Adding On To The Frame

When we had the frame all ready we added on MDF board. Ben snuck into this picture, he is responsible for most of the work on the frame. Sorry ladies, as evidence by the ring on his finger, he is taken.

Next we built up the shoulders. At this point we still planned on having the upper portion being detachable. That wasn't working real well so eventual it was permanently attached.
