What's the difference between cosplay, and dress up?

HA! Tricked you! There isn't one! They're exactly the same.

It's only called cosplay because some wont embrace their geek side!

Well there is usually an element of research and creation that 'dress up' lacks.

Look you, we've already established you're a chick. And thus aren't entitled to an opinion. Because it would only be fake!

Even though I know you're being tongue-in-cheek, the visual image of EG holding you off the ground with one hand, and smacking your nose with a rolled-up newspaper in the other for writing that just made me laugh.

I rather like that sort of thing!

I actually have a rolled up newspaper I use to bat some of the younger members of my games club with when they make silly jokes.

Actually, the girls who show up dressed only in duct tape ... unless they're trying to be Lelu Dallas ... yeah, those are just people out for attention and I have no respect for them. Anyone who spends even an ounce of effort coming up with a costume, I say, "Good on you!"

Actually, there is one cosplayer who goes by the name "Belle Chere." She obviously puts a lot of time and thought into her outfits, but I always feel like a bit of a cad if I linger over her images for long.

She's lovely, really liked her Captain Marvel costume.
