    Default Ocean Gaming Table

So a while back I made a 4' x 4' modular gaming table for Dystopian Wars. Essentially I used:

    + 2 x 2'x4' sections of .75" plywood
+ Primer and Paint (primer + 3 colors)
    + Glaze coat

Here is a blog post I did about the process, showing it at different stages, including VIDEO and PICTURES:

This board has been great to game on, and is pretty easy to move around because of it's construction in two sections. The glazecoat completely sealed the gaming side, as well.

I originally used RubbishInRubbishOut on Youtube as a guide while building my table.

That is a really nice looking water effect you have there.
Either there is life in the universe more intelligent than us, or we are the most intelligent form of life in the universe. Either way, it's a worrying thought!

Thanks! I highly recommend the glaze coat for it - even if you mess up the coat mixing (as I did, a little), it still looks good as water!

Wow! Such a beautiful table - and are those islands aquarium decorations?

That is an awesome water effect. Well done. Have you tried it on a smaller scale, for bases, etc?

@ Big Red - They are aquarium decorations! Cheap, lightweight, handy - and a reasonable scale for DW, if you pick the right sizes.

@ Galgaroth - Not yet! It would be tough to do, I think, because of the mixing process for the two-part glaze coat. With DW I usually prefer no bases, anyway.
