thats more like european martial arts in the way that a karate tournament is eastern martial arts.

The idea behind the above is that you dont pull punches so to speak.

EDIT: on a side note, if you are genuinly interested in accurate discussion and portayals of European martial arts may I recommend the Skallagrim Youtube channel. I found it quite by accident, but it is very good and theres always something interesting to watch on it

That's a bit wussy honestly, my reenactment group does metal weaponry while wearing wearing historically accurate kit not namby pamby carbon fibre armour. There are Australian groups that do it too. This stuff seems like the swordfighting equivalent of American football honestly.
