A friend of mine is a Wassit engineer.

He has to calibrate the machine that makes wassits, if the drum goes to fast the wassits are too small, if it is too slow the wassits are too giant...

A friend of mine once had a summer job in a fudge factory. On his first day a big sweaty man in a vest met him on the shop floor and said, with no trace of irony; "I'm going to teach you to pack fudge".

I once had a summer job literally counting and categorizing the cracks in the roads.

It was great, especially because our equipment wasn't waterproof so, in the wet British summer on record, when it started to rain we had to find cover quickly. Doesn't sound too bad until you factor in we were often out in the countryside at least a mile from our van with the only cover being trees. There were many lightning storms...

It was also so hot one day that we had to stop work because the roads were melting!

Not any version of scissoring I've heard of/seen.
