No, I went to OCS, but I ended up deciding not to commission. I found that engineering was a better match for my personality. As much as I loved running around with guns out in the field, realistically it'll be barracks life for most Marines for the foreseeable future, and while I could do that as, say, an enlisted Marine, I don't have the right personality to do it as an officer. In hindsight, I probably should have enlisted and used the benefits to pay for college, instead of trying to do it the other way around. Don't regret going in the least bit, though.
Plus, kind of ironically, I'm actually in a lot worse shape after OCS than before it. Military training is so gogogo that you don't get time to actually work out, rest, recover, eat healthily, etc. I lost a lot of conditioning and strength at OCS, and I know it would have been mostly downhill for the next year or so until I completed the follow-on training and actually got out into the fleet. So that was a bit of an annoyance, I'd worked my *** off for like two years getting to where I was (19 minute 3-mile, 20+ deadhang pullups, 30+ rounds of Cindy, a sub 30 minute Murph, 500lb deadlift, etc) and now my times at the crossfit gym back home are pretty much right back where they started, if not worse. At least I'm physically stronger at this point.
It was definitely an awesome experience, though. I don't think I'll ever be cold again in my life, not after multiple near hypothermia experiences crawling through just-above-freezing water for extended periods of time in near freezing air temperatures, and then returning to the barracks with freezing cold showers to clean off in. Now, cold water is just refreshing.
Also, I left, and returned to find that two new codices (Daemons and Tau) had come out, and that Tau were the new cheese, and that Tau curb-stomped most any non-Draigowing Grey Knight army. So, yeah, it took me a while to get up to speed.

Possibly better to learn it now than a couple of years in?

Consider cars must be test driven a certain number of miles and have testing to destruction, do the items in the OP have to go through such testing?

What a fascinating speculation. Maybe a sample from each batch, equivalence stress testing?

Well they must be made to certain specifications so they must be easy to check like the physical dimensions, and stress testing. But can you imagine being in the RnD for it? So what is your job? I am a XXXX Tester..

Overhead this conversation at work.
My sister's boyfriend had a job with the British Board of Film Classification and ends up having to watch porn all day to see if it legal to be sold in the UK...

Yeah I've heard of that.
I wonder how you apply? It can't be worse than what I do now...
