Default New from Avatars of War

Seems AoW while still massively behind on getting the units and models made for their Dwarf Army Indiegogo campaign (largely due to Felix's insistence on scultping the whole lot himself) have made progress in switching their unit production from their resin/plastic hybrid (Warcast) to injected moulded plastic and the first unit of those to be re-done is the Corrupters of the Apocalypse which have gone up for pre-order (expected delivery date is in December). Here's a pic of all the bits in the set:

The injection mold for the plastic Corrupters of the Apocalypse is alredy being tooled! Plastic injection tooling takes its time so the box will not be available until December.

In the meantime we have prepared a limited pre-order offer that we hope will make you want to get your Corrupters today even if December is still quite away: For the duration of this offer (limited to 400 boxes) you can get a special box of 24 Corrupters of the Apocalypse (161 plastic parts) for 30 € (the normal sale box will be 16 miniatures for 35 €) together with this exclusive miniature of a Lord of Petilence with great weapon (available only through this offer).

The new Corrupters figures mantain the same aesthetic that was so well accepted but thanks to the possibilities that offer plastic injection the box comes now with many more separate pieces for assembling or using in conversions (heads; arms; legs; weapons...).
    Here is that exclusive figure:

They also have a new character model of an Amazon!

The Amazons of Barbaria are a tribe of fearsome and legendary warrior originating from those cold lands to the north of Krond. Their fame has not gone unnoticed to Cael Lord of the Apocalypse who tempts the Amazons with his gifts in order to add some these dreaded warriors to his cause of death and destruction.
Those Amazons of the Apocalypse especially notable for their cruelty are known as the Manhunters.

The Amazons the Apocalypse are a specialist regiment to harass and decimate enemy ranks based on powerful javelins and to support charges from the rear or flank. A must if you intend to make a tactical game and cancel the enemy supporting regiments.
I'm not a fan of the Nurgle aesthetic generally, but I kinda like the Corrupters and the Manhunter just looks badass.

Manhunter is quite nice, not sure why she's naked though. Bit unimpressed with AoW lately.
Ask not the EldarGal a question, for she will give you three answers, all of which are puns and terrifying to know. Back off man, I'm a feminist. Ia! Ia! Gloppal Snode!

Because she's a woman in a fantasy setting, and that's what happens.
We all know that the presence of magic and the size of female clothing are inversely proportional.
But seriously, she comes from a cold environment, says on the blurb, I refuse to believe she wouldn't at least wear a fur bikini.

Yeah it is a bit odd that she's so under dressed, what with the fluff about the Amazons coming from the cold lands in the north. Nice figure all the same, but her attire (or lack thereof) makes no sense whatsoever.

Just noticed that both the Amazon and that exclusive Corrupter were both sculpted by Felix. Good to see he's so concerned about all those Dwarves that people pledged money for well over a year ago and are still waiting on huh?

Right, I get the fantasy trope thing but she's from explicitly 'cold lands'. I guess she is escaping hypothermia.

That particular trope actually really pisses me off.

Ditto. I'll tolerate Red Sonja 'cos she has a brilliant female writer now but it needs to stop, it's just tedious. In this case it's just nonsensical, if she were from the tropics or something you could forgive it even if it is purely there to appeal to male geeks

maybe as shes from the frigid north, she is used to the cold and goes out like that to prove how tough she is, like women from Newcastle?

But seriously, its dumb and I hate it and I've decided to stop buying models from companies that do **** like this, its why I cancelled by Kingdom Death pledge, as much as I love gribbly monsters and weird things, the Pin Ups were just too much for me and I couldn't support a company that did those

Kingdom Death is just too creepy for me. Penis and boob monsters are just a bit left field for me and I have children in the house. I have always liked the AoW sculpts, the new nurgle style chaos warrior looks very cool. The Amazonian looks like a blatant attempt to appeal to teenage boys IMO. It's a pretty sculpt I grant you but I'm a fan of less is more than nothing at all
