    Default Airbrushed Blood Ravens

I received as a present from some friends a couple weeks ago a box of the new tactical marines and a box of the new Sternguard. Both kits are fantastic and a vast improvement no only in options but in quality. Gone are those annoying flash / miscast lines on the feet etc.

Anyway I felt obliged to make a start on such a splendid gift and as I have discussed before have a bit of love for both the dawn of war games and the Blood Ravens. Today I knocked out the tactical squad minus the transfers. I ordered some today from FW. As it says in the title they were mostly airbrushed. The red armor and the cream shoulder pads were airbrushed. Even the Sergeants face is a combo of airbrush and washes. I always go with a triad of colours when airbrushing for some zenithal highlights. I then went into the areas I wanted shaded with secret weapons soft black wash. Going for a clean crisp table top standard. Hope you like them.

Here's a few pics from my phone, unfortunately since I upgraded to ios7 the macro function isn't anywhere nears as good.

Thanks both of you. I love my airbrush and would recommend one to anyone in our hobby.

As for the Zenithal technique, I read this awhile ago and applied it to these guys as well as my Wraith dudes.

Basically, primed black then used 3 shades of red. Adjusting the angle higher for each coat.

Nice Blad Rehvens, man, especially the Sergeant. He's the boss of the boss. The boss' boss! His boss.

Blood Angels Space Hulk Librarian painted as a Blood Raven. Obviously a WIP. The bolter / storm shield swap was not as clean as I would have liked. I may use another purity seal to hide the raggedy join.

Cheers, soon I will get back to painting. I'm in the process of moving and all my hobby stuff is now packed away. Including this fella. It will be awhile before I get to painting yet. Real life getting in the way I'm afraid.

I know what you mean, I've been so busy trying to find a job I couldn't afford to buy new paints to finish off my 50 or so SM, now I have a job, I'm working too hard to get the money and now I don't have much spare time....

I can't win either way at present!
