Default Good News Bad News of me getting sick

AKA, let's try and look at the bright side of this.

Went to the Emergency Room Friday night with extreme pain and vomiting. I officially once again have Gallstones and will probably have surgery in the next week. Very bad news is lots of bills are late as it is and I won't be working for at least 2 weeks. But might give me time to catch up on minis. I think. Hopefully. Assuming relatives don't decide that I need to sell all my stuff. I need food. This is been a confusing stream of thought post.
I'm thinking it'd probably turn out more like Daleks playing Quiddich. "It is the Potter!! EXTERMINATE! EXTERMINATE! " (someone I know on twitter)

    Hey dude.

Quick bit of independent and impartial financial 'advice'.

Here in Britain, when someone is experiencing financial difficulties outside of their control, such as in your situation, the institutions owed money have a duty to treat you fair, and reasonably. Whilst this of course doesn't mean any bills being wiped, it can, and usually does, mean they will agree to suspend payments for an agreed period, with a repayment plan also agreed by both parties.

Now, I have no idea if the USA as the same sort of expectation, it's definitely worth investigating.

You may even have insurance policies you don't recall on credit cards and loans, known in the UK as the infamous PPI, or Payment Protection Insurance. Ask you bank or other creditors if you have this. Successful claims cover the payments during your period of convalesence.

I'm sure you're a big enough boy to know this, but given my profession, I like to make sure, especially as illness can mean added stresses preceding clear thought.

Hope the op goes well, love and bro-hugs,

    Mr Mystery.

In the US you can ask, but there's no "need" for the parties involved to treat you like a human being at all. When I've had problems in the past they main comment has been that I need to apply for aid from a religious group that will help pay but almost never do they allow bills to actually be late.

Sorry to hear that. I wouldn't want one of the saner voices in the hobby to be down and out.

Sometimes I wonder why we have allowed our country to become such a crappy place...

    Still worth the discussion.

Sounds like you're in for a relatively short convalesence, so they may be more receptive to a briefly restructured payment.

And if you think this may become a recurring thing, do look into income protection insurances. I've got a policy through work (for free. Kind of civil servant FTW!) which guarantees 70% of my wage should I get splatted, with no maximum pay out length. The longer I'm quadraspazzed, the longer it pays out for.

Indeed provided people can find a reasonably priced policy, it's worth looking into, particularly those with mouths other than their own to feed!

I'm not an insurance salesman though! I know this stuff through my job, as I need to be able to help consumers see their options, whilst remaining independent and impartial...

well I did get some painting done yesterday, but nothing complete. I'm staring at too many projects right now and no energy. (also-I'm one of the saner ones? ok I guess).

Oh matey, sounds like your really having a crap time of it. I am sincerely sorry to hear about your health and financial problems. Sure hope there is light at the end of the tunnel for you eventually. But at least you have some time to catch up on your painting and maybe get some RnR in at the same time. Sounds like you need it.
    Good luck with both

You have been in the rules threads before?

However the process of robo-insemination is far too complex for the human mind!

Well I did accidentily start a nasty flamerwar once...

Today's the specialist appointment, and yesterday I finished the Dark Angels tacticals from DV. Depending on how I feel I might start a Death..wind? whatever it's called now conversion. I have a Drop pod I picked up awhile ago and didn't get to and have spare assault cannons and have an idea with Iron Hands allies.
