I just read an article on the Sisters Repentia of the Adepta Sororitas:

This is the most grim-dark, BA, Inquisitiony, and altogether awesome thing I think I've ever heard of anywhere ever. Is there a book or short story out there which deals with this specific subculture in the universe? I'd even settle for fan-fiction. it is THAT awesome!

Apparently there is a Dark Library Novel called "Faith & Fire" about the Sisters of Battle ([url]http://www.blacklibrary.com/all-products/Faith-and-Fire.html[/url]). That may float your boat and scratch your itch.

Faith and Fire deals with it some. That was the first source I'd seen that definitively answered the question of whether a sister repentia can be absolved without dying. Apparently it is possible, though not necessarily the expected outcome.
