Default MK 1 Land Raider Conversion/Restoration

I was introduced to WH40K in 86/87 and had a few marines that I eventually assembled but gave up on long ago. About 2 summers ago, I picked up a few items and started to paint and learn the finer points of the hobby. I wanted something from the old school so I purchased a box of junk on ebay. In the bottom of the box under the old Rhinos and two newer Land Raiders, I found the tracks for a Mark 1 Land Raider which I always wanted but never purchased. I realized early on it would not be a true Mark 1 but somewhere in between the early and current version.

Its missing everything except the two sides with tracks but I had some newer Rhino and Land Raider bits as well as some plasti-card. If you are going to start converting stuff using plasti-card, I highly recommend a bag they they have called "Odds and Ends" which has a wide variety of strips, sheets, etc. I also suggest you get some hollow square style as it helps putting sheets together at right angles.

I'm going to start refurbishing my own MK1 soon. The only thing missing are the side doors and front dozer grill, but I may adapt an assault ramp too. I was also going to magnetize the pintle mounts so I could run Hurricane bolters and possibly firestorm cannons

Primed and rust spot undercoat with some hair-spray and salt before the base coat.

Now it just needs some RTB1s to dress it up

How can you not build a Heresy army around that sweet ride!?

Truly, truly stunned with the finished result, superb.

You wouldn't happen to do video tuts of your airbrushing techniques? That's some of the nicest airbrushing & weathering I've seen in a long time.

    Thanks for sharing
