It would be great if they finished off all the 6th Ed Codices so that anyone who wanted to could play 6th; and then completely reworked the game system for 7th, making a clean break with the old system.

I could see a 6.5 being released, which basically incorporated all the expansion content that they wanted to make core (fortifications, apocalypse for example), a bit like what Wizards did with the D&D 3.5 update. It changed some things but didn't invalidate everything else that was already out there, I just can't see them doing a whole new edition which would really annoy most people at this stage, ~2 years after release of the previous.

also after just releasing "the rules" edition of the rule-book but not a short time ago I would hope they wouldn't want to screw those people over. Majorpat i agree with you that if there is any truth to this nugget of rumor thats slipped out the internets backside, itll be the addition of Fort/LoW rules. and then the rulebook will cost EVEN MORE...

Wondering if this is perhaps a misinterpretation.

They've started to do collectors bundles of books.

We might see a collectors bundle of 40k and it's expansions. But a whole new edition? After only two years? Very unlikely, particularly as there are no massive issues with the core rules at present.

I could see this actually being a 6.5 release, perhaps putting out an updated rulebook

    Yes, no, Maybe...

GW has used Canary traps before to catch leakers... That said, it is not completely outside the realm of possibility for late 2014. What do we have left? GK, BA, Orks, DE and the rumored Tyranids and Guard for 1Q and 2Q next year..

I could see a 6.5, but still generally skeptical. And no new Fantasy seems unlikely to me. I just can't put much faith in this rumor.

As far as rumours go it's by far the hardest to believe. Can't see GW changing the scheduling of a new edition so drastically

It costs a lot of money to develop a new rulebook. That's the type of thing ya do on a 5 year timescale, not 2.

What's more likely to happen in 2015 is that there would be a new army.
