I have a pretty good army in my head, I was discussing it with my friends and they said they'd hate to play it.

Kjolnir, I see what you did there!
GW have their flaws, as does every company, particularly the one I work for! But I tend to glaze these details and get on with it, there's more to life y'know?

    what are you thinking?

I'm thinking a walkrant with HVC and a pair of guard, a Flyrant with Combat mods (not as great as TLBLD's but its my favourite model and I've been using a flyrant since 4th ed dropped)
Potentially a pair of out flanking tervigons
    2x2 Zoans
    2x30 termagants
    20 horms
either a gargoyle unit or a big unit of skyslashers
    pair of mawlocs

And then depending on points maybe a pair of FMC's or Screamer killer fexes
    Morbid Angels:http://www.lounge.belloflostsouls.net/showthread.php?7100-Morbid-angel-WIP
I probably come across as a bit of an ***, don't worry I just cannot abide stupid.

I hear ya. I think that's probably how most people view them. I doubt much of anyone actually views them in the way you described.

I think they'd be doing a lot better for themselves (GW that is) if they would do a better job of communicating with their community. Their development process is so closed off and secretive that it breeds distrust. The best games I've played made by the best game developers have had open, regular dialog with their community.

I'm known for using distractions to achieve victory, a few big beasties here, a few lictors in your face, a horde of Gaunts, some 'stealers, oh and Fexes are now in charge range whilst you were fretting over a Trygon.

    OH DEAR.

kjolnir, having a few friends in the GW bizz, even in HQ, it's pretty much all to do with New Line Cinemas and the non-disclosure agreement.

From this recent update to the WD, we should see more of a customer - producer community.

2 x Dakka flyrants, toxin sacs
    2 x Crones, toxin sacs
    2 x Exocrines
    4 x 30 vanilla Termagants
2 x 3 warriors, deathspitters and rending claws
    1 x Venomthrope
    1 x Zoanthrope

That leaves me some points to play with. I'm strongly considering making the flyrants with only 1 set of devourers and a lashwhip/bonesword, and then giving them the haywire thorax swarm. Marginally worse in shooting, but better in melee. I could even use the Reaper on one and probably save a bit on the combo.

The warriors, venomthrope, and zoey are for backfield support.

I'm not one for posting lists on here any more, I play extremely controversially to regular 40k players.

No good against most flyers, but that's what the Crones are for with the vector strike and tentaclids. And, the haywire thorax swarm is still S5, so it's a good flamer template to use against both infantry, and almost a guaranteed glace against vehicles. Being BS4 means the 6 shots you get from oen devourer isn't quote as "bad" as it was before.

And, you're still rerolling to wound in melee but now with a chance at ID.

So now the opponent has 4 ugly FMCs in his face, and two ugly MCs sitting in the middle of the table spitting out S7 AP2 pie plates.

The venomthrope is giving a 2+ cover to anything hiding in ruins. Zoey is there to dice for catalyst and settle for dominion for some resilient synapse, and the warriors are there to provide some decent defense in the backfield on top of the mass of Gants.

No idea if it'll be any good, but it sure as heck sounds good in my head ;-)

Compare it to 40k, and it's literally a joke.

Plus, within each faction there is far, far more variability. Most 40k books ultimately break down to a small number of competitive builds. Warmahordes allows you to bring any one of a dozen casters or warlocks per faction, all with unique playstyles, and multiple ways of playing each one. And most of them are genuinely good enough to be competitive enough.

Meanwhile, gw hasn't released an faq in how many months?

Claiming gw has quality rules while handwaving the multitude of large, blatant, and relatively easily solveable problems in 40k with a 'but balance is hard', while other companies, pp being the most obvious, are doing a vastly better job, is laughable.

I really don't know what else to say. 40k is fun, it's easy to get a game, the models are cool, and the fluff is cool, but the rules are objectively mediocre at best, and the company is openly dismissive and actively exploitative of its customers.
Stating what most people play is not an argument that means that there are not more ways to play. People play marines because marines are just all around fun.

That's disappointing. I've always enjoyed your lists and different take/strategy.
