    Default Soulrazor vs Eternal Warrior

    Just spotted something the other day, that although Soulrazor can kill something outright, it isn't doing so via the "Instant Death" rule: Soulrazor special rule from the Diresword (codex Eldar p64) - Models that suffer 1 or more unsaved Wounds from this weapon must pass a Ld test for each unsaved wound or die.

    Wheras the Eternal Warrior special rule in the BRB specifically, as written, protects against the "Instant Death" special rule.

    Which one wins here? Can you one-hit kill something with multiple wounds remaining and Eternal Warrior (assuming that it fails the Ld test), with a wound from a Diresword?

    Going as written, that Soulrazor doesn't use the Instant Death rule to do it's instant kill, that Eternal Warrior is useless. However, this seems to be against the intention of Eternal Warrior, and one likes to think that if Asurmen and a Dire Avenger Exarch get in a fight, that the Phoenix Lord's special rule ought to be taking precedent over that of his subordinate...

    The wording is "removed from play". So no eternal warrior.
    Same wording as Jaws of the world wolf (Space Wolves) which got a FAQ stating that it ignores eternal warrior.

    Shokk Attack Gunz for Orks do the same on a "6,6" result, Models are removed from play. A great result against things like 2++ re-rollable daemons.

    i once shokk gunned a 17 figure unit of csm jetpacks/wings, including a champion and prince: but more often than not the SAG is a complete waste of space.

    @Dave
    The trick with SAG's is that you take as many as possible, for shenanigans to take place. At 2,000 points you can get four Big Meks, and then you can whip out Mekboy Junkas (IA:8) in the Elites slot and give those a SAG. With Double Force Org. That can land you ten SAG's... Ror better or worse, you and your opponent won't know whether to laugh, cry, or both.

    that sounds like fun - and yes with more than two on the table something is bound to work. but we play mostly competition style games; 1400/1650/1750 or 1850 pts. so no SAG joy for me then

    Okay, so you guys are confirming my 'As written' part of this... but do you feel that is 'as intended', or would you have expected Eternal Warrior to be more encompassing?

    I suppose that if you view it as an attack that it incapacitating them for the fight instead then maybe there isn't a conflict of intent either?

    Intended I guess. Its one of the very few effects with "remove from play" and Space Wolves got their "remove from play" even covered in an FAQ.
