I haven't had a chance to look at the New Big Book.
How does Shadows in the Warp work?
I check the Tyranid FAQ, nothing in there. But my understanding is that you don't take leadership checks with psychics anymore...

Didnt change has no effect other than reducing Ld of psykers atm.
It's strange. The Aegis for Grey Knights, which is similar, changed to let them reroll failed Deny the Witch rolls. I would have thought Shadows would be the same.
Where is my tinfoil hat!??

Screws up Psykers suffering Perils in the Warp, making it distinctly riskier
Though background wise, it's meant to stifle psychic abilities. I've always imagined it as a sort of psychic white noise, interference and distraction all in one.

Actually it hit me.
It isn't that Shadows of the Warp is bad... it seems minor...
However, look at how many psykers you can have in a bugger army. Now throw in Shadows of the Warp.
It is actually going to work as it is supposed to: your opponent's psykers won't cast much, and will be crushed by the Hive Mind for doing so.

The only problem being only half the perils table results even involve a leadership check; 1, 5 and 6. So Shadows went from drastically increasing the odds of a psychic test being failed, thus causing a wound, to half the time perils even happens.
