    4 Crew Stunned -> same as 'crew shaken' but more serious injuries (Light injury, recovers normally)
    5 Weapon Destroyed -> serious injury to the arms (Heavy injury, must miss a battle)
    6 Immobilised -> serious injury to the legs (Heavy injury, must miss a battle)
    7+ Explodes! -> Dead

    Almost the same but more fluffy (the story writes itself for your characters injuries ;-) ).

    And you can make it as detailed as you want, with as many bonusses or penalties as you want, depending on which weapon killed your character, etc...etc...

    (But perhaps it is best not to make it to complicated, you don't want your battle to bog down while you are taking notes what shot who :-) )

    nothing much really 'dies' in 40k, except maybe orcs and nidz. everything else is chipped, cloned, repaired or otherwise brought back to functionality.

    It's fun if you're playing a campaign with invented characters to have some kind of mechanic like the above where they can die - most of GW's campaign systems have had something along those lines.
