    the longbow never stopped you speaking french, a fuedal class system did that. Because for most of englands history its rulers were speaking french

    You said it yourself in your opening post - Orkney. Skara Brae is just the tip of he iceberg for cool historical stuff. There are lots of Stone Age monuments, a Viking cathedral, and some WW2 stuff. Then there is the stunning scenery and plenty of wildlife to see. I highly recommend everyone go there

    If you're heading SW I recommend Bovington Tank Museum and Monkey World.
    They're right next to each other!
    But I'm a tread-head, and who doesn't love gibbons.
    Plus with Monkey World the guilt level is massively reduced because they're all rescued from far worse!
