What Other Special Characters Should be Lords of War?

I think all chapter masters should be lords of war, at least of the original legions. Think of the power they have at their command. Mega buffs or straight up combat monster. Abaddon should be too, he seems woefully underpowered on the table top compared to what I've read in the books. I'd agree with the Sanguinor and the Avatar. All the really big tyranid ones should be to, in my mind.

if you are going to class legion lords of Lords of war, then they would have to be so buffed up at people have said, compering the likes of Abaddon to what is in the [url]http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Downloads/Product/PDF/L/lordsofwar.pdf[/url] list of what is a Lord of war, Abaddon doesn't come near to An'ggrath or the other Lords of war and with you only being able to take 1, i know which one i would take

Indeed, seeing as Horus Heresy Vol 1, Betrayal predates Escalation, Primarchs are very much the original Lords of War.

And absolutely ded 'ard on the battlefield too. But far from unkillable.

Any and all named Chapter Masters.

Not only is there only one of each in the Galaxy, but also one of each per Chapter. Company Masters are 10 a penny (puntastic!).

Also means you can make them ridiculously hard.

As for this 'legitimising' Lords of War.....erm.....that was done already. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean they require further justification for everyone else.

I agree with that last point, and if you ask me, disallowing LoW units, as limited as their availability in battle-forged list is, is an unnecessary handicap on casual play. Now, if your TO doesn't want LoWs throwing off the tournament meta, that's their prerogative.

As to who should be a LoW, generally, anyone that has/had a vehicle stat line would be a good start (I.e. Samiel, Karamazov, Bjorn). Anyone that doesn't really "lead" an army (Lelith, Khârn, Ahriman, Fabius, Rakarth, Drazhar) would also fit. As for generic LoWs, loose Specialist ICs would be good, especially Vehicle Characters or MC characters. Anyone who can't keep your troops in line but can give an edge in whichever phase they're optimized for.

well, i am not sure that we would see them any less, i would welcome making my CM a LOW and run 2 libbies as HQs. might not have a big doodad but still suits me just fine.

I literally don't think I've played a game without a Lord of War on one end of the table since escalation hit. They've just become part of the landscape of the game for me.

This is me, and I do not mind.
