    Default My Nurgle to Date

As promised a while ago (in another thread), here’s some shots of my Nurgle army that I was lucky enough to win best painted army this year again at the local club championship. Starting off with the DKoK Quartermaster that's been lured to Nurgle's side. Granted I can't use him with my Nurgle army anymore (grumble grumble); but I still really like the paintjob on him.

Next up is the Quad Launcher battery and crew. I had a tough time trying to make each one unique. All the aquilas have been shaved off and replaced by the "Tricorn of Nurgle". Their shoulderpads were scripted with the 268 marker for the DKoK regiment that was "destroyed" beneath the undercroft on Vraks.

He doesn't often get played but I but I did up a scratchbuilt Scabiethrax the bloated from a mishmash of old parts I had lying around. He’s so top heavy that I had to have a ¼” thick steel plate punched out in the shape of the MC oval for him to sit on. The slime and water is PMC790 from Smooth-on, took me about an hour to get the slime right and was a nerve wracking experience as it goes on (obviously) after everything is painted and could seriously mess up the entire model if I wasn’t careful. I tried to make it look like he’s pulling himself out of a lake of slime with the small mechanical centipede esque arms, one of which is holding his dear old teddy; because evil needs teddies too.

Next up is the Storm Eagle I did that started life as a Storm Raven. I carefully popped apart the pieces I needed to and installed the Tru-Scale conversion kit from Chapterhouse to lengthen the body. Next was an extensive milliput and green stuff treatment followed by priming and painting. I’m trying to improve my freehand skills so I apologize for the sloppy wording. Where the kill markers sit on the opposite wing skin section; there was supposed to be a WW@ esque pin-up that’s all decayed and rotting but my freehand skills weren’t up to the task at the time. I’m into my Thousand Sons now, here’s hoping they’ll improve to the point that I can circle back and finish this the way I always envisioned it.

I had been dissatisfied with the GW Typhus model for quite some time now and have decided to change my disappointment into an opportunity to create a sweet model! I’m using the GW plastic terminator lord as the base for the newly posed and sculpted Typhus. In the below photos you can see the already painted (needs stripping) plastic one with some additional metal and plastic bits I had lying around and my metal typhus that was used as a reference for the sculpt.

Here’s shots of the whole gang in one of the display cases in my basement. There’s: Typhus, 8 terminators (with magnetized arms), a Helbrute w/ Reaper Autocannon and ML, A mounted Sorcerer, the DKoK Quatermastrer Cadre, 20x DKoK Thudd Gun crew, 5x DKoK Combat Engineers, Storm Eagle, Land Raider, Rhino, 9x Plague Marines, 5x Havocs 4 w/ ML, 2x Heldrakes (that are on permanent park now), 4x DKoK Thudd Guns, 80x Zombies (split into 4 blocks of 20), Aegis Defense Line, and on the bottom shelf Scabiethrax. The Stormblade was moved to another case and replaced with the Nurgle Warhound I’m doing and the rest of the unpainted bikers and obliterators are still unpainted, just primed.

Here's some better shots of a few pieces in the army including the unfinished Warhound which took 38" of greenstuff to date.

This is some really incredible work, thanks for sharing. The slimiest Nurgle army I have ever seen haha.

Hi ladies n gents, it’s a favor I’m asking of you to please take a few minutes and vote for my entries in the Golden Brush painting contest. The Nurgle sorcerer in the small model (shown) and the Nurgle Warhound titan in the large model categories respectively.

The nurgle sorcerer's robes are all greenstuff as are the muscles and skin on the warhound. The bones on the warhound were found during walks in the woods and come from a small weasel (head) and coyote (spine, ribs & right leg)

I wanted the sorcerer's robes to look like he had a cape originally and over time turned it into a patchwork robe made from bits and pieces of cloaks and skin taken from people throughout time. His right hand was left un-embroidered as an homage to the origins of the Plague Marines. History buffs will remember the Plague Marines were once the Death Guard who were once the Dusk Raiders. The Dusk Raiders armor was slate grey with the entire right arm painted red as they were the “Red Right Hand of the Emperor”.

And another big picture dump of Nurgle Models.

There's a biker lord, rapier weapon batteries, a sicaran, Typhon heavy siege tank and some spawn. The siege shield on the Typhon was 3D modeled and printed and the cannon is the belly gun from the Lord of Skulls.
