I've played plenty of GW games (Fantasy, 40k, and various specialist games) but never really branched out into any other games due to not feeling I had the time to commit to many different systems. Well, I only played a handful of games of 5th and 6th edition 40k and I don't feel any inclination to pick up 7th, so I'm thinking that now may be the time to take the plunge and get in to Warmachine.

I've been reading up about the factions online and decided that Menoth is probably the one for me. I wasn't sure whether to buy the Battlegroup or the two-player Battle Box to start, but I'll probably go with the latter to get the full rules - but I'll put this off for a couple of months, since I'm due to move house and already have a lot of stuff...

In the meantime, I bought myself a light 'jack (the Revenger, not included in the two-player box). I've also been playing around with a couple of spare High Elf archers, which I think could be converted into passable Temple Flameguard and Choir. It seems that WM/H players are generally more opposed to such conversions than Warhammer players, though I have seen others do similar and I figure it makes sense for now.

Any recommendations on where to start? And, if I do convert my own figures, does that mean I need to buy the faction book? I know you could get decks of faction cards when Mk II came out, but I take it these are OOP because they now seem hard to find and rather expensive.
